Mets interest in Ohka

Anthony McCarron at the NY Daily News, writes about the Mets interest in Tomo Ohka along with several other teams:

The Mets have expressed interest in starter Tomo Ohka, according to a baseball official, but apparently have plenty of competition for the righthander.

Six other teams are pursuing Ohka, according to Ohka's agent, Jim Masteralexis.

"Tomo has four offers," Masteralexis said in a phone interview yesterday. "All four of those have asked for his medical records and three others have reviewed his medical records and said they're fine. We're negotiating."

Ohka, who will be 31 in March, made only 18 starts for Milwaukee last season because of a partial tear in his rotator cuff. He was 4-5 with a 4.82 ERA. Ohka pitched for Mets GM Omar Minaya in Montreal from 2002-04.
