A Little Back Story on Carvajal

Carvajal bats and throws right-handed. He made his major league debut on April 6,2005, with the Colorado Rockies. After the 2005 season, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners for catcher Yorvit Torrealba. In April of 2006, the Mariners traded him to Tampa Bay for minor league pitcher Jose De La Cruz. Mets claimed RHP Marcos Carvajal off waivers from the Devil Rays on Feb 15 .

A highly-touted prospect in the Dodgers and Brewers minor league systems, Carvajal was picked up by the Rockies in the Rule 5 draft in December 2004. Then, in the 2005 spring training he posted a 1-0 record with a 4.97 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. He was included on the Opening Day Roster. At age twenty, Carvajal became the youngest player to appear in a game for the Rockies. He pitched a perfect inning in his major league debut.
