Perez Gives Up 4

John Delcos at Lo Hud , writes about Oliver Perez and his first outing in ST:

Oliver Perez gave up four runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts in two innings this afternoon against Detroit.

It certainly isn't what the Mets were looking for from their projected fourth starter.
Perez blamed it on rusty mechanics.

"I've been working to keep my shoulder in, but it was flying open," said Perez, which consequently forced his pitches to stay up in the strikezone.

And no, Perez wasn't throwing as hard as he can, but he said he'll throw harder as the spring progresses.
