Wright- Not a 3rd Baseman?
...from brogna blog...
There has been speculation that Alex Rodriguez could opt out of his contract at the end of the season, meaning the Mets could possibly pursue him, along with the Chicago Cubs.
Alex Rodriguez, being a converted 3rd baseman and originally a shortstop, would cause conflict if he is signed by the New York Mets. We have the rising superstar David Wright playing at third, and Jose Reyes at short. Where would we put A-Rod?
Well, Wright wouldn't be too stubborn as far as moving, according to Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record.
"Wright said he'd be willing to play "anywhere" to make room for A-Rod. It seems highly unlikely that Rodriguez would opt out of his contract at the end of the season and then stay in New York, but Rodriguez wanted to play for the Mets before signing with the Rangers. "Did he really say that?" A-Rod said when told of Wright's comments. "Wow, tell him I'm flattered."
...i like the thought of arod in a mets uni, i dont like the thought of wright playing a position other than third...
...let it be known that klapisch referred to rodriguez as "shea-rod"...
