Brian Lawrence May Become Available

Ed Ryan At Mets Fever (Shea Nation Network), writes about Rockies reliever Brian Lawrence:

The Rockies appear to be on the verge of releasing relief pitcher Brian Lawrence. In five years with the San Diego Padres as a starter Lawrence has compiled a record of 49-61 with an ERA of 4.10. He is coming off an injury and there is no room on the roster for him. Every year of his career Lawrence has been an innings eater going at least 200 innings per season.

The Brian Lawrence era with the Rockies will end before it starts. The pitcher was told he would be placed on waivers today. If he is claimed, another team would assume his contract. The Rockies are responsible for Lawrence's $250,000 buyout, but would receive some financial relief from the $500,000 owed on his contract if he clears waivers and signs with another club. source Denver Post
