Green To Give Green

On the Jewish Daily Forward, they write about Shawn Green and him donating for every RBI he makes this season (thanks to Mets Blog for the link):

After a disappointing debut as a New York Met last season, Shawn Green has hit the ground running in 2007.

After seven games his batting average is an impressive .370. To make matters more interesting, the slugger has announced that for every run he bats in this year he will be donating $180 (10 times chai) to the UJA Federation of New York.

Sure, this is small potatoes for someone pulling down $10 million a year, but if Green is to match his 2001 stats (and drive in 125 runs), that’s enough to keep him in the majors — Major Gifts, that is.
