Jon Niese allowed one hit in five scoreless innings Friday for Single-A St. Lucie.

He struck out three and got 10 outs on the ground. Niese, a 2005 seventh-round pick, is a potential third or fourth starter for the Mets. He could finish this season in Double-A.
