Perez Fixed?

DJ Short at Mets Blog, writes about Oliver Perez and points out that he has greatly improved:

LHP Oliver Perez pitched seven innings last night against the Braves, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out six and walking none.

The last time that Perez did not walk a batter while completing at least four innings was on May 31st, 2005 vs. the Marlins.

Additionally, in 25.2 IP this spring, Perez walked only seven batters.

...all this from a guy who has averaged more than one walk for every two innings in his career...i'm not ready to say he has completely turned the corner, but it's clear that he is moving from being a thrower to becoming a pitcher...and that's an important distinction...he should be fun to watch this year...
