Tonight's Matchup
Tonight the Mets (5-2) take on the Phillies (1-6) at 7:10 PM at Shea Stadium. Here is a preview of the pitching:
Mets
Oliver Perez (1-0; 1.29 ERA) :
Perez shut down the Braves at Turner Field in his first start of 2007, allowing one run on five hits in seven innings. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter. A home run by Jeff Francoeur was the only stain on his ledger. Perez has struggled against Philadelphia, posting an 0-1 record with a 9.35 ERA, including three homers allowed, in two career outings.
Phillies
Adam Eaton (0-1; 13.50 ERA):
Eaton pitched poorly in his Phillies debut, allowing eight runs -- seven earned runs -- on seven hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings. The right-hander had an especially trying fifth inning, when six of the runs scored.
