On The Wright Track

Brian Lewis at The New York Post, writes about David Wright and if he's on the right track now:

David Wright has more hits in the last two games than he had in the previous ten before that, and the Mets are confidant their heretofore-slumping third baseman is breaking out of his skid.

He followed up his 3-for-4 Tuesday night _ including his first home run of the season _ by going 2-for-5 with an RBI in yesterday’s 6-3 win over Florida. Not bad for a guy that’s been just 4-for-his-last-35, and he said it had more to do with a mental adjustment than any mechanical one.

“That’s a big part of it. I talked with Willie (Randolph) and (Howard Johnson) and (hitting coach) Rick Down, trying to be more patient andcomfortable up there, rather than work on mechanics or different things in my swing,’’ Wright said. “Fortunately the last couple of nights I’ve been hitting. I’ve been more patient.’’
