Game Recap:: Mets 1 -- A's 0
Ramon Castro is still trying to catch his breath...
Well the Mets finally won a series, beating the A's 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th! David Wright singled home the big man Ramon Castro in the bottom of the 9th to score the only run of the game. El Duque and Joe Blanton "duqued" it out for a great pitchers duel.
Orlando Hernandez pitched 7 AMAZIN' innings giving up only 6 singles and walking 1 in his first good start in a while. El Duque struck out 7 batters tonight.
...what a game from Hernandez! two great starts in a row...
Pedro Feliciano and Aaron Heilman combined to no hit the A's in the 8th inning. Each of them registered a strikeout.
...Heilman is looking better and better...
Billy Wagner worked around what should have been an error on Carlos Deglado to earn the win by pitching a scoreless 9th inning.
...a solid non-save situation pitching stint, that's impressive!!...
Ramon Castro (1-1), who filled in for an ejected Paul Lo Duca (did you see those crazy eyes!?!) doubled into the left field corner, and eventually scored on David Wright's (2-4) single that got past a diving Travis Buck to score the winnings run in the bottom of the 9th.
...clutch!!! that's what we need!!...
Jose Valentin and Ricky Ledee each picked up hits tonight.
Carlos Beltran went 2-3 with a walk tonight.
...he has been getting hot! he's not swining for the fences anymore, but swinging more level and picking up hits left and right...
Game Ball:: Orlando Hernandez! What a game!!
