Game Recap:: Mets 2 -- Yankees 0

"The Catalyst" is back!! JOSE-JOSE-JOSEEEEE!!!

Oliver Perez pitched an absolute gem as the Mets glided to a 2-0 win. The Mets broke their 5 game losing streak, and also snapped the Yankees 9 game streak. Perez pitched 7 and 1/3, and if memory serves, retired 14 straight until Jeter's double. Perez walked 3 and struck out 6, while only surrendering 5 hits.

...Olli Olli!!!...
...what can i say?! just a wonderful game for him!...

Pedro Feliciano and Joe Smith combined to finish the 8th inning without allowing a base runner.

Billy Wagner struck out 2 in a 1-2-3 9th inning to save a great game.

...well done boys...

Jose Reyes was the man tonight, going 3-3 and driving in both runs for the Mets. In the third, Reyes singled to bring home Carlos Gomez, and in the 5th homered DEEEEEEEP to left field, bouncing the ball off the upper deck.

...i love that kid...

Carlos Beltran and David Wright each picked up hits, while Wright drew a walk as well.

Carlos Gomez picked up 2 hits, neither of them getting out of the infield, as they were both bunt hits.

...good game, even though it wasn't a high powered offensive breakout, they won the game, and that's all that counts...

2 great plays in the field, one from Gomez and the other from Jose Valentin. Gomez made a jumping catch at the wall to rob a possible home run, and then threw to second to double up the runner. Jose Valentin took a great angle and made a great running catch at the tarp to retire the batter.
