Game Recap:: Mets 6 -- Phillies 5 (Game 1)

I held my breath the last 3 innings...

Just an amazing game from El Duque! The Mets rode El Duque and Carlos Delgado to beat the Phillies by a score of 6-5. El Duque only allowed 3 hits, unfortunately 2 of them were solo home runs. Hernandez struck out 7 and walked only 2.

...great game for him!!...the bullpen...not so much...

Guillermo Mota relieved El Duque for the 7th innings, and allowed a 2-run home run to Wes Helms, which cut the lead to two.
Pedro Feliciano started the 8th, and walked the first batter, Michael Bourn. Aaron Heilman came in to get the final out of the inning, and allowed a hit to Pat Burrell, which scored Bourn (charged to Feliciano).

...grr! why can't our whole team come together at once? it's always something that has to fail...we always make it interesting...

Billy Wagner came in to close it out in the 9th and struck out the side.

...good morning, good afternoon, see you tonight!...

Carlos Delgado absolutely LOVES this park, as he went 3-4, with a 2-run home run in the second. He also scored on a double off the bat of Ramon Castro.

...too early to tell if he's breaking out, but its a good start...

Jose Reyes went 2-4 on the day, picking up an RBI and scoring a run on his own solo home run. Reyes was furious after getting called out at second after trying to steal a base in the 7th inning.

...i've never seen Reyes so mad! he was still barking when they came out for the bottom of the inning...

Jose Valentin, David Wright, Ramon Castro, and El Duque each picked up a hit in todays game. Castro and Hernandez each had an RBI. El Duque's "ribby" scored Ramon Castro...barely.

Game Ball:: Orlando Hernandez and Carlos Delgado!

...let's go out and get game 2!!...
