Castillo A Great Move And Could Be Long Term

Getting Luis Castillo from the Twins for two borderline prospects (Butera and Martin) was a great haul for Omar, in light of every team wanting to begin their trading conversations with the word "Lastings" and ending with "Pelfrey", neither of whom were traded. Castillo IS a free agent at the end of the season, but he is someone that Omar probably would have targeted in the offseason anyway, and he acquired a player for practically nothing who is capable of Gold Glove caliber defense, is a lifetime .300+ hitter, is only 31 and has been part of 2 World Championship teams (Marlins). If we can follow this up with the acquisition of Jeff Conine from the Reds and perhaps a middle reliever, on the heals of having Pedro coming back (and hopefully Gomez and Sanchez as well) we will be a much stronger team!!! I'm not worried about Texiera and the Braves, or the Phils, simply about staying healthy and playing up to our potential! A few more hours to go...lots can happen...

there has to be something wrong with him if the twins were willing to part ways for little back

Yeah I don't really get it either

But with little to risk I think it was a wise move in the end.
