Game Recap:: Mets 4 -- Dodgers 1

I really hate these late games...

The Mets played a tight one, sitting at 1-1 until the 8th inning, when they scored 3 runs en route to a 4-1 win over the LA Dodgers. Oliver Perez didn't have his best stuff, as he gave up 6 hits and walked 3, but he only allowed one run and struck out 8. The only run came on a Nomar Garciaparra home run to lead off the second inning.

...he looked bad at times, walking guys on 4 pitches, and then he would bounce back and get a guy on a nasty changeup...
...i'll take this start from Olli any time, even though it gave me some stomach pains!...

Joe Smith come in to pitch for Perez in the 8th, and allowed a hit without recording an out. Pedro Feliciano came in and finished out the inning hitless.
Billy Wagner came out and pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning to pick up his 21st save.

...very nice!...
...bullpen is improving!!...

The Mets picked up 1 run off of starter Bret Tomko, an unearned run in the top of the first inning. Marlon Anderson made it to second on an error in the outfield, and then David Wright knocked a single to center field, and Anderson scored on Juan Pierre's terrible arm.

...he is producing for us...i like!...

In the 8th inning, Roberto Hernandez's throwing error allowed Jose Reyes to score and break the tie. And the next batter, Carlos Beltran knocked a home run to deep right center to put the Mets up for good.

Reyes went 1-4 and scored a run, and Anderson went 1-3 scoring 2 runs. David Wright qent 1-3 and added one RBI. Carlos Beltran went 2-4 at the dish, scoring a run and picking up 2 RBI's.

...could Beltran be getting hot??...

Game Ball:: Beltran
