Game Recap:: Mets 7 -- Padres 0

One of the best games all year!

Everything clicked for the Mets at PETCO, as Orlando Hernandez, Pedro Feliciano, and Guillermo Mota combined to only give up 3 hits. The Mets offense picked up as well, as they beat Jake Peavy and the Padres by a score of 7-0. Hernandez was masterful, making almost every pitch that he needed. Both hits were doubles to Adrian Gonzalez. El Duque walked 2 and struck out 4.

...what more can you ask from him?...
...just an absolutely amazing game from Duque..
.

Pedro Feliciano and Guillermo Mota finished out the game for the Mets. Feliciano surrendered the only hit between the two. Mota struck out one in the 9th, while Feliciano struck out 2 in the 8th.

...very nice...

Jose Valentin had a nice game, going 1-3 with an RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 walks.

...i still think this should be Gotay's job to lose...

Carlos Beltran also hit the ball well, going 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

...hopefully this becomes more consistent from Beltran, as he has been slumping for a while now...

David Wright walked twice, and scored both times. Carlos Delgado went 2-4 and picked up 2 RBIs.
Paul Lo Duca went 1-4 and also knocked in 2 RBIs.

...this is against the best staff in the league!! good sign!!...

Orlando Hernandez went 1-3, and scored one run. El Duque singled in the 5th, stole a base, and scored on a Jose Valentin single. El Duque became the first pitcher in 40 years to steal a base in consecutive games.

...haha it was a thing of beauty to watch him "run" around those bases...

Game Ball:: El Duque out shone everyone! Great game all around!
