Game Recap:: Padres 9 -- Mets 8

SO frustrating!!...

It was a great game, but the Mets could not hold on, losing the game, and the series to the Padres by a score of 9-8.

Tom Glavine started the game, and was almost entirely ineffective, giving up 11 hits in only 5 innings of work. Tommy allowed 6 earned runs to cross the plate while allowing 3 walks and striking out 1.

...what is up with the starting pitching??...

The bullpen was surprisingly good tonight, until the 9th inning. Scott Schoeneweis and Pedro Feliciano pitched 3 innings of no hit ball, as both issued one walk and struck out one.

...all was well...until...

Billy Wagned came in to try and close it out in the 9th inning but allowed 2 earned runs to score on 3 base hits and one walk. Wagner struck out 2 batters while on the mound.

...what is up with Wags?...
...leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments!...

The Mets scratched a run out in the 9th to put it into extras, which left the game up to Aaron Heilman. Heilman gave up a one out home run to Adrian Gonzalez to give the Pads the go ahead run, and eventually the winning run.

...Heilmans nerves are way too shaky in "big" games for me...ugh...

Luis Castillo continues to impress at the plate, going 3-6 on the night and scoring one run.

...Ruben who?...

David Wright continues knocking the ball all over the place, going 2-3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.
Shawn Green picked up a 2-run single in the six run 6th inning for the Mets.

...Milledge is in a s-l-u-m-p!...Green should and will get more playing time...

HUGE at bat from Marlon Anderson, who cranked a 3-run pinch hit home run to cap off the 6th inning.

...this guy has been AMAZIN'!!!...

Game Ball:: Anderson!!
