Milledge Should Start in Right

When Carlos Beltran comes off the Disabled list in the next week or so, Personally, I would love to see Lastings Milledge as the every day Right Fielder. It’s a simple decision to make in my mind, Milledge is hitting as a top prospect should and Green isn’t hitting at all.

Here’s a further comparison of the two:

Shawn Green:
At Bats: 333
Batting Average: .270
Home Runs: 8
Runs Batted in: 30
Stolen Bases: 9

Lastings Milledge:
At Bats: 74
Batting Average: .284
Home Runs: 3
Runs Batted in: 15
Stolen Bases: 0

Now if you were to equate Milledge’s production into the at bats that Shawn Green has had, he wins up with these numbers:

At Bats: 333
Batting Average: .288
Home Runs: 14
Runs Batted in: 68
Stolen Bases: 0

That’s a world of difference in production. If Milledge were to be the everyday right fielder from day one, he could be right in the mix for team lead in home runs. Again it is obviously a simple decision and should be made once Beltran comes off the Disabled List.
