Game Recap:: Mets 10 -- Reds 4

Welcome back Pedro...

Pedro Martinez made his first start of the season, and the Mets gave him his first win. The Mets beat up on the Reds by a score of 10-4 to take game 1 of the series.

Pedro went 5 innings, throwing 76 pitches, 47 for strikes. Pedro allowed 5 hits and 3 runs, 2 of them earned. He gave up 2 runs in the first inning, and then settled down nicely. He walked 3 (one intentional), and struck out 4 batters. Pedro picked up his 3,000th strikeout today, striking out Aaron Harang in the 2nd inning.

...it's great to see him back and ready to play...
...i am oficially excited for playoff baseball...


A bunch of Mets pitchers finished out the game, allowing 6 hits combined. Scott Schoeneweis, Pedro Feliciano, Guillermo Mota all pitched scoreless innings of relief. Aaron Sele gave up the only other run in the game.

...nice to see the bullpen hold this win for us and Pedro...

Luis Castillo went 3-4 with a walk on the day, scoring twice and driving in one run.
David Wright picked up 3 hits, one of them a two run home run to the opposite field.

...mvp anyone?...

Shawn Green doubled and picked up 2 RBI's today.
Carlos Beltran continued his hot streak, going 2-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Carlos Delgado also picked up 2 hits, and also drove in an RBI and scored once.

...the Carloses are getting hot...

Moises Alou absolutely dominates Aaron Harang, and continued that today, going 3-3 with a loooooooooooong solo home run in the second. He scored 3 runs and drove in one.
