Game Recap:: Mets 4 -- Astros 1

Pedro did what he had to do...

Pedro Martinez guided the Mets to another sweep, as the Mets took out the brooms and swept the Astro right out of Shea by a score of 4-1.

Pedro Martinez pitched 5 innings of scoreless baseball, throwing 92 pitches. He allowed 6 hits and only one walk while striking out 4. Pedro made his pitches when he needed to, getting out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th.

...i can't wait until he can go deep into games without problems...
...oh so exciting...

Guillermo Mota gave up a solo home run on his first pitch in the game, which plated the only Houston run. e allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in his inning of work, while striking out 2.

...bring on the hate for Mota...

Pedro Feliciano and Aaron Heilman bridged the gap into the 9th, only allowing one hit and one walk between them. Feliciano gave up the only hit and Heilman issued one walk. Neither of them struck out a batter.

...so good...

Billy Wagner closed out the game, allowing a lead off hit and nothing after that. Wagner struck out Luke Scott to end the game.

...go Billy go!...

Luis Castillo went 1-3 with a walk today, scoring once.

Carlos Beltran went 2-3 and drove in 2 RBI and scored once.

...what more can we ask from him right now?...

Shawn Green went 2-4 today, hitting his 30th double of the year.

...keep it up Green...

Moises Alou hit a 2-run home run in the 5th inning to put the game away for good. He blasted a ball to deep left field which went well up into the bleachers. His hitting streak is up to 14 games.

...well done Alou...
...just stay healthy...

Pedro Martinez helped his own cause, smacking a double to left field and eventually scoring on a Beltran sac-fly.

...haha i didn't think it was even possible!!...
