Game Recap:: Nationals 13 -- Mets 4

Ouch...

Just when the Mets were getting on a roll, they lose 13-4 to the Nationals. The Nats scored 3 runs in 3 seperate innings, and the Mets still out hit them.

Mike Pelfrey stunk it up again, lasting only 5 and 2/3, giving up 5 hits and 5 walks, which led to 7 runs, 6 of them earned. Pelfrey struck out 3 batters, and gave up a home run to Austin Kearns in the 5th.

...it's never easy...
...Glav tomorrow is pretty much a must win with Humber on Weds...

Joe Smith finsihed out the 6th, allowing one hit. Pedro Feliciano was the only semi-effective reliever tonight, pitching one inning, giving up 2 walks and striking out 2 in his scoreless 7th.

...not BAD, but not great either...

Guillermo Mota was back to his normal ways, giving up 3 earned runs on 3 hits and a walk. He struck out one batter, and really struggled with his stuff.

...and everyone is back off the Mota bandwagon...

Dave Williams came in to mop it up in the 9th, but only made it worse, giving up 3 earned runs, all of them coming on a home run to deep right from Ryan Langerhans.

...it was nice seeing you this season Dave, you've done enough already, thanks...

Jose Reyes drove in one run and walked once tonight.

...need more from you Jose!...

Luis Castillo went 2-5 tonight, and scored once.
David Wright went 3-5 at the plate, knocking a double off the wall.

...daviddddddddddddd! mvp!...

Carlos Beltran went 1-3 with a walk, driving in one run in the top of the 9th, his 106th on the year.

...he also made a great throw in the 7th to gun down a runner trying to score from second...

Moises Alou kept the streak alive, up to 27 now, with a double in the 6th inning.

...go Moises go!...
...Wright has a 12 game streak and Castillo has a 10 game hitting streak as well!...

Carlos Delgado looked good, going 2-5, driving in one run. Delgy had a nice hustle double after hitting the ball through the shift he put into into 5th gear and beat out the throw.

...nice to see some speed from the big guy...

Paul Lo Duca continues to produce, picking up 1 hit, scoring once, and driving in one run.

...sign him or let him walk???...

Game Ball:: Wright and Alou
