Just A Quick Roster Update
For the first time this season, the Mets will be able to field the new revamped starting lineup that will “hopefully” be making their way into October ball. What these players do over the next few days will give us all a good idea on where we stand in the National League East.
So for those of you who don’t know, or just weren’t paying that much attention to the Met roster carrousel, here’s what we’re looking at:
1. Jose Reyes
2. Luis Castillo
3. David Wright
4. Carlos Beltran
5. Moises Alou
6. Carlos Delgado
7. Paul Lo Duca
8. Lastings Milledge
9. Pitcher
The only question is, is Willie going to bat Milledge or Lo Duca eighth. I don’t think there is much of a concern as to which player bats before the pitcher because Milledge has proven he can hit in that slot with success and Lo Duca is just a professional hitter. Although, I would rather see Milledge bat in this slot because it allows the Mets to have some extra speed down in the order, if it come to Reyes being up.
For now the bench is looking like this:
C – Mike Di Felice
1B – Jeff Conine, Shawn Green; Marlon Anderson
2B – Ruben Gotay
SS – Ruben Gotay
3B – Marlon Anderson; Jeff Conine
OF – Shawn Green, Marlon Anderson, Jeff Conine
This isn’t to say that once Endy Chavez comes back into the picture that the Mets will carry 7 outfielders into the playoffs, but we have seen stranger things.
