Sweet Justice?

David Lennon at On The Mets Beat writes about when he thinks that the Mets will clinch and makes it an interesting day:

That said, with the magic number at five, I'm thinking the clincher will be (drum roll please) on Thursday against the Cardinals. How's that for justice? Celebrating in front of St. Louis after what happened last October. I know Willie Randolph said on Sunday that the baseball gods are making the Mets "pay a little bit." But if those same gods have any sense of humor, it would be very appropriate for the Mets to be popping champagne with the Cardinals in town.

NY Post's Words Gaining Some Questions From Phillie

Patrick at Phillie Burbs writes about the article written by the New York Daily News the other day that said the NL East race is over:

By my calculations, there’s a month-plus of Major League Baseball games left. So it’s possible - though maybe not probable - that the Phils can overtake the Mets and win the NL East.

The New York Post’s Kevin Kernan must be using some fuzzy math, because he declared the NL East race over and done with in Sunday’s rag - a thinly veiled F.U. to Jimmy Rollins and his pre-season proclamation that the Phillies were the team to beat.

Wright Feels Mets Need To Prove Themselves

At Mets Baseball Blog they write about David Wright and how he feels that the Mets need to prove themselves against the Phillies and Braves:

A six-game lead in the NL East isn't enough for David Wright, who feels that the upcoming road trip to Philadelphia and Atlanta is time for the Mets to prove themselves. "(This) week is not going to make or break our season by any means, but we need to go in there and prove we can beat the best teams in the National League East," Wright said. "We haven't proven that on a consistent basis yet this year. It is important we go in there and prove not only to ourselves but also to the top teams in the National League that we are for real and we can beat them - especially at their place."
