Glavine + Beltran = Mets 3 Games From World Series

Tom Glavine struck out Albert Pujols in the first inning, on his way to pitching seven shut-out innings. Carlos Beltran hit a 2-run homer in Shea Stadium in the 6th. Billy Wagner shut them down in th ninth. The Mets won 2-0 to come 3 games away from the world series. Need we say more? In spite of Cliff Floyd going down again in the third, it was a great night and a very well-played game, from doubling off Pujols on first to Endy's awesome catch in left, and Mr. Glavine pitched perhaps his finest game in blue & orange on a night when it counted most! Jeff Weaver pitched another great game, and yet we pulld out just enough to win- as we seem to do all the time in this magical season. We even saw someone with a "Glavine & Maine and Pray For Rain" sign, a saying we posted here first quite a while ago! A great intro to the 5-game in 5-days roller coaster ride we're about to experience- and remember, we picked the Mets in 5 - we might have to scale that down by a game (although Carpenter is pitching Friday.) What a night!!!!
