Mets force change
Ken Davidoff at Newsday, writes about the change in rules for the playoffs that the Mets sparked:
One minute administrative change resulted from the 2006 National League Championship Series between the Mets and Cardinals. From now on, if the first game of a postseason series gets postponed, as was the case in the NLCS, teams may reshuffle their 25-man rosters.
For instance, the Oct. 11 rainout of Game 1 created a schedule of five games in five days, which might have prompted the Mets and Cardinals to add another relief pitcher to their roster. But they didn't have the opportunity to do so. Next time, they will.
