Mets keep the same offer for Zito

Joel Sherman at the NY Post, writes about the Mets and their offer to Barry Zito:

Now, just a few months after determining the following about Barry Zito: 1) They were worried about his concentration on off-the-field pursuits and 2) He was not a true ace and worth nowhere near the $73 million over five years received by Roy Oswalt, the Mets have let Boras know they would stretch to Oswalt money to buy Zito.

The fact is the organization is littered with people not enamored with Zito, certainly not at these dollars. But the Mets crave a rotation sure thing no matter how much they publicly exude confidence they will go with what they have.
