Pelfrey Gets Blasted In Loss

Anthoney Dicomo at Mets.com, writes about the Mets and their 11-5 loss this afternoon to the Rockies:

It was a five-run third that spoiled Pelfrey's afternoon, with Colorado pitcher Josh Fogg sparking the rally. Fogg's base hit turned out to be an omen, as three of the next four Rockies came through with singles. Pitching coach Rick Peterson took a trip to the mound, but to no avail. Just two pitches later, John Mabry launched a Pelfrey offering over the wall for a three-run home run that effectively ended the rookie's day.

Aaron Sele came on in relief the next inning, with similar results. Four of the first five Rockies reached, with Matt Holliday and Todd Helton both racking up their third RBIs of the game. Stray runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings bolstered Colorado's total, as the Rockies won at Shea for just the second time in the past 17 meetings.

The Mets' offense came alive in the sixth, as Shawn Green continued his hot hitting with a three-run double.

Fogg lasted seven innings for the Rockies, allowing three runs and eight hits, while Jose Reyes' four hits were the only other bright spot for the Mets.
