Pelfrey To Be Promted Tonight

Matthew Cerrone at Mets Blog, writes about the eventual promotion of RHP Mike Pelfrey:

According to previous, and recent reports, Mike Pelfrey will be promoted after tonight’s game, while Lastings Milledge will most likely be demoted to Triple-A New Orleans. Pelfrey is slated to start at Shea Stadium against the Nationals tomorrow.

However, according to Marty Noble, at MLB.com, if tonight’s game is rained out, Glavine’s start will most likely get pushed to tomorrow, meaning Milledge could stay in New York, with Pelfrey remaining in St. Lucie for the next turn of the rotation.

Next week, when the fifth starter spot comes around again, Pelfrey will then be promoted, with Milledge most likely being demoted.

Milledge, as quoted by Brian Costello in the New York Post

“As of right now, it really doesn't matter. I'm around a lot of guys that can teach me a lot of things that I need to know at the big-league level. I like taking advantage of that. Whatever the front office does is going to be in my interest.”
