Player Update: El Duque And Jose Valentin

Jeff Seidel at Mets.com, writes about Jose Valentine , Orlando Hernandez and gives an update on their situation:

Orlando Hernandez returned to New York on Sunday to have his shoulder checked out after the right-hander felt some tightness there. He's still scheduled to start Monday's series opener against the Marlins.

Second baseman Jose Valentin headed back to New York on Sunday morning to have an MRI done on his right knee, which bothered him enough to force an exit in the fourth inning on Saturday.

Valentin will have more tests done on his right knee Monday, and then the team will decide whether the second baseman will have to be put on the disabled list.
