The Maine Case

Anthony De Rosa at Mets Blog, writes about John Maine and what he thinks so far:

Russlan Abouhassan on Mets Geek has been impressed with John Maine so far this season, but is a little skeptical that he may at some point be exposed.

Maine walks 10% of the batters he faces, Victor Zambrano walked 10.4%. Maine counters that by giving up hits to only 17.5% of the batters he has faced as a Met. Nolan Ryan's career hit rate was 17.4%.

The most troubling statistic however is his BABIP, which stands for batting average for balls in play, which in layman's terms means how lucky a pitcher is with having hits converted into outs. Maine's is a sparkling .215
