Should Omar Catch Flak?

Eddie D'Anna at Silive.com, writes about the Mets recent injury woes and asks if Omar is to blame:

GM Omar Minaya caught some flak after spending his winter recruiting and re-signing players in their late thirties and early forties.

You can bet he'll catch a lot more now if his contingency plans don't produce, because his graybeards -- and I use that expression relative to a baseball player's shelf life -- are dropping like flies this week.

Orlando Hernandez? He's headed to the 15-day DL with shoulder bursitis.

Jose Valentin? He'll be joining his comrade on the 15-day DL with a partially torn knee ligament.

Moises Alou? Our leftfielder is getting an MRI on his sore right shoulder today.

The team seems to think El Duque will miss another start or two while he waits for the inflammation to go down, so that could be worse, and we'll keep our fingers crossed on Alou. But it's Valentin's injury that concerns me the most. Our second baseman seems to think he'll be back after a few weeks of rehab and can put off surgery until the off-season.
