Mets Want Buehrle Only If They Can Negotiate

Mark Hale at The New York Post, writes about the Mets and their desire to trade for him only if they can get a 72 hour window to resign the free agent:

The Mets are tracking Mark Buehrle, according to a person familiar with the situation, but they will only trade for the White Sox lefty if they have a 72-hour window to sign the free agent-to-be.

The only exception would be if the cost for renting Buehrle were somehow so minimal that the deal would be worthwhile regardless.

Minaya said that, trade-wise, things are "just at the check-in stage right now."

When asked about going after a free-agent-to-be, he replied, "It all depends on who you're giving."
