Kansas City Fire Sale

One look at the Royals these days and it would be rather easy to speculate that general manager Dayton Moore will be conducting a major fire sale as the trading deadline approaches later this month.

Moore is staring at numerous veterans who don’t exactly fit neatly into the team’s future plans.Scott Elarton, Odalis Perez, Octavio Dotel, Emil Brown, Mark Grudzielanek, Reggie Sanders and Mike Sweeney all could be candidates to be moved. Then again, Moore might not move any of them.

“I would expect we will be aggressive and active,” Moore said. “But the problem is, you can’t make other teams want your players. Either there’s an interest in them or not. You can’t force a deal.
