A Try For Dotel

Since the Royals are said to be about to conduct a fire sale of all their veterans, I thought it be fitting if I propose a possible trade for the Mets and them.

Octavio Dotel is doing a fine job for the Royals this year and owns a 3.94 ERA, a 1-1 record, 19 SO; 8 SV. The Mets could definitely use this righty out of the bullpen this year. The only question would be what the Royals would want in return. Dotel’s contract does run out at the end of the season, but the Mets are in desperate need of some help in their pen.

The Mets could possibly give up some mid level prospects to the Royals if that’s what they’re after. I was thinking of someone along the lines of Anderson Hernandez and Drew Butera. I don’t even know if such a deal could be worked out with these two players packaged together but it’s always worth a shot.
