Game Recap:: Braves 7 -- Mets 6
Now that is what you call a heartbraker...
The Mets scored 3 in the bottom of the 9th, and nearly tied up the game but lost by a score of 7-6. Luis Castillo grounded out, but brought in an RBI, then David Wright hit a 2-run shot to bring it within one. Carlos Delgado got a hold of one and knocked it to left field, where he would've had a home run, but Willie Harris lept and made a Endy Chavez-esque catch to save the game for the Braves.
Again, John Maine looks good one inning, and lost in the next. He gave up 7 hits in 5.1 innings, allowing 6 ER to score. He walked 3 and struck out 4. He gave up back to back homers to Chipper Jones and Mark Texieira.
...it seems as though focus is a problem for Maine...if something affects him, you see it in the way he pitches...
Jorge Sosa allowed one run to score on 3 hits while working the 7th inning.
...he's looked solid in relief so far, so you have to cut him a break here...
Pedro Feliciano and Guillermo Mota each worked scoreless innings to keep the Mets within striking distance.
Big games from the top of the order, with Jose Reyes going 3-5 and scoring 3 runs in todays game.
...what did i say, this kid is the key to it all...
Luis Castillo went 1-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one run.
...Gotay picked up a hit to start it off in the 9th, but Castillo has been great at the plate and in the field...
David Wright went 3-5 with one run scored and drove home 3 RBI, two of which came on a 9th inning home run.
Moises Alou and Carlos Delgado each drove in a run each.
...so close...soooooo close...
