Game Recap:: Phillies 10 -- Mets 6

What an awful game...

Sorry I'm getting this up so late...but I just finsihed screaming at the wall. The Mets looked punchless and all around terrible, as they got swept by the Phillies for the second straight series by a score of 10-6.

Oliver Perez got absolutely rocked. He only lasted 2 and 2/3 of an inning, allowing 6 hits and 6 walks, and 5 runs to score. Due to an insane amount of errors, 5 to be exact, only 2 of those runs were earned. Perez struck out 6 batters.

...he had nothing today...
...yes, he defense didn't help him, but he had nothing in the tank at all...

A whole slew of pitchers came into this game to wipe it up, most notably Guillermo Mota and Jorge Sosa. The Mets bullpen only gave up one hit, but it was a grand slam to Greg Dobbs. Mota loaded the bases, and was on the bad end of a botched possible double play, and was removed without recording an out. Jorge Sosa came in, walked in the go-ahead run, and then gave up the homer down the right field line to Dobbs.

...everyone else no hits the Phils, Schoe, Collazo, Smith, Feliciano, and Heilman...wow...
...our pitching...has disappeared...

Carlos Beltran had a big day today, as he went 2-4, picking up 3 RBI's on a 3-run blast on the 5th inning. Beltran also scored twice.

...his swing looked sooooo effortless...

Moises Alou kept his hitting streak very much alive, going 3-4, with 3 singles today.

...keep on keepin' on...

David Wright picked up his 30th home run, and become only the third Met to do so. He hit his home run to deep right field in the 7th inning, and made a HUGE case for his MVP eligibility.

The Mets comitted 5 errors today. FIVE.
...i'll leave it up to you to discuss this one...
...its either hitting and no pitching, pitching and no hitting, or like today, lots of hitting and no pitching and no defense...
