Pelfrey Has Better Command Now
Adam Rubin at the NY Daily News write about Mike Pelfrey:
Mike Pelfrey suggested his command of his breaking pitch should be much improved in 2007, which would help his cause for earning a rotation spot. Pelfrey has abandoned the curveball he threw last year, and instead is honing a slider he worked on in the Arizona Fall League before cutting short that stint because of back discomfort.
"I went to the fall league and developed a slider," Pelfrey said. "I don't think it's anywhere close to where I want it to be, but I definitely made progress and definitely got more comfortable with it. I also worked on a changeup a lot out there. I thought that got better, too."
